The Lore

My love of astrology began when I was seven years old after discovering a worn copy of Linda Goodman's Sun Signs. Growing up in New York City, I spent countless evenings looking up at the night sky, fascinated that people had been searching the stars for meaning for thousands of years.

Long before I knew what astrology was, I was the kid making "potions" out of shampoo and bubble bath, convinced they possessed some sort of magical properties. I spent hours poring over D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths (yes, that one), memorizing the stories of gods, goddesses, monsters, and heroes. There has been a very serious ongoing period where I became completely obsessed with Egyptian astrology…and still am.

Looking back, I suppose I've always been collecting magic.

As I got older, that curiosity was nurtured by remarkable people.

A family friend, who was like the big sister I never had, introduced me to astrology in a deeper way. She shared books, answered my endless questions, and showed me that a birth chart was far more than a horoscope—it was a symbolic map of a person's life.

Tarot found me in a much less mystical way.

I liked a boy.

I wanted to know if he liked me back.

It seemed perfectly reasonable that tarot might have the answer.

So I bought my first deck.

The boy didn't last.

The cards did.

Seeing my curiosity, a dear friend's incredibly kind mother took me under her wing and patiently taught me how to read them. She showed me that tarot wasn't about predicting a fixed future. It was about symbolism, intuition, and learning to ask better questions.

That lifelong curiosity eventually led me to earn a B.A. in Anthropology, where I became fascinated by how people across cultures have used stories, symbols, rituals, mythology, and the natural world to make sense of their lives.

Over the past twenty years, I've continued studying astrology and eventually began reading professionally, helping clients use their birth charts as tools for reflection, timing, and self-understanding.

Along the way, I realized I wasn't simply interested in astrology or tarot.

I was fascinated by a much bigger question:

How have people, across cultures and throughout history, searched for meaning?

Whether through the movement of the planets, the symbolism of tarot, ancient mythology, folklore, earth magic, herbal wisdom, or the changing seasons, people have always looked for ways to better understand themselves and the world around them.

That's what Vesta & Star is about.

It's a place where astrology meets mythology, where tarot sits beside folklore, where the changing seasons become invitations for ritual, and where history reminds us that magic has always been woven into everyday life.

Everything I offer—whether it's a birth chart reading, tarot, classes, or writing—is rooted in that same belief: that understanding the stories we inherit, the symbols we carry, and the cycles we live through can help us better understand ourselves.
